The Journey was commissioned in 2022 by the Portland Youth Philharmonic, with generous support from Carl Abbott & Margery Post Abbott.
It premiered on Saturday, March 4th, 2023, as part of the Schnitzer Hall Series with David Hattner, Director.
"In the wake of the recent pandemic, 'The Journey' emerged as a collaborative symphony that truly embodies the voices of the students who brought it to life. Each movement's title and thematic essence were born from their input, drawing inspiration from Mahler, Bruckner, Brahms, and the whimsical spirit of Fantasia. This piece is a testament to their creativity and ownership.
