The Idle Mind for Solo Horn (2023), was commissioned by hornist ZACHARY COOPER through the generous gift of the University of Montana. It was premiered in Summer 2024 at the International Horn Society Symposium, Colorado.  
The work exploits various technical difficulties for the horn such as extreme ranges, large intervallic leaps and multiphonics, while also offering melodic and even humorous passage work.  This hopefully makes for a challenging but rewarding undertaking.
